Dry Silica Microspheres are particle size standards used in aerosol research for instrument size calibration, atmospheric testing, drug delivery and CMP slurries. Typically the CMP Slurry dry silica is produced at 800 nanometer diameter, but can be tailored to your size specification. Dry Silica can be ordered in 1 gram volume; or can be special ordered in 1 Kg volume.

A particle size standard is only good if its reliable and repeatable. The Dry Silica Microspheres particles we offer are for this exact thing: giving you a high purity, super uniform particle size standard. You can use these silica particles, which are solid silicon dioxide (𝑆𝑖𝑂2), as a trusted reference for your work with aerosols or CMP slurries. We have a wide range of nanometer diameter silica particles, so if you need 800nm silica particles for sale, we got em. The morphology and batch repeatability is what you can count on.
Our dry amorphous silica particles are made in-house by our team to be top-of-the-line. We really focus on the details that matter most for scientists and engineers.
In semiconductor fabrication, CMP is a really critical step. You need a super uniform surface, no scratches. The dry silica microspheres we have are perfect for making CMP slurry. A lot of our customers use our 800nm diameter particles to help make sure their semiconductor polishing is perfect. Our CMP slurry dry silica helps you reduce defect rates, which is a big deal when you are making a lot of wafers.
If your doing research on how particles behave in the air, or atmospheric testing for environmental work, you need a good standard. You use our silica microspheres as a calibration standard for instruments that measure airborne particulate matter. It’s a silicon dioxide powder for aerosol research that you can trust.
For SSIS and LPC instruments, you need instrument calibration silica particles. Our silica particle size standards are NIST traceable, so you know they are accurate. We got the data to prove it, and so when your QA person asks, you have the answer.
This is a common question, and it’s a good one. When you are doing instrument calibration, some of the old stuff just doesn’t work so good anymore. Especially with high-powered lasers. Silica microspheres vs PSL spheres, it’s not even a fair fight.
Feature | Silica Microspheres | Polystyrene Latex (PSL) Spheres |
Heat Resistance | Withstands high-powered lasers. | Melts under high-power lasers, ruining calibration. |
Chemical Stability | Stable across most chemical conditions. | Can degrade in many solvents. |
Lifespan | Long shelf life, very reliable. | Can degrade faster, less reliable. |
Calibration | Ideal for SSIS and LPC calibration. | Less suited for modern, high-power systems. |
You want the data, here is the data. If you need a specific size not listed, ask us about it. We can do custom stuff for bulk orders.
We sell our silica particle size standard in convenient sizes for lab use, but if you need a whole lot more of the dry silica powder, we can do that too. For 1 kg or larger custom orders, just hit up our customer service team to get a quote. We make it easy, no need for tons of paperwork.
Store them in a cool, dry place. Keep the container sealed to prevent moisture from getting in and making clumps.
For sizes over 100nm, our size distribution is typically ≤ 3%. For other sizes, it can be up to 10%. We always provide the exact data for your specific batch.
Yes, our particles are NIST traceable. We have the paperwork to prove it, and we follow the procedures exactly so you can trust the data.
